We think to restore righteousness, we need to take matters into our own hands. James says the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. You will never accomplish the work of the Spirit in somebody else's life by the power of the flesh. How do you conquer evil in others? You don't do it by repaying evil with evil, which feels good but doesn't really help.
