Is the Scapegoat Innocent?

The problem with scapegoating is not that they're guilty. It's that by unanimously singling out that person as the fundamental source of the problem, we actually miss the deeper sources of disorder. The point is the scapegoat, in a sense, blocks us from our own guilt. And I think we can see that playing out in our society today.
