As editor-in-chief of a magazine, I am still mostly firmly planted on the creative side. But now I have to deal with budgets, and I speak as much to the president of the company as I do to my editors. And so I get to understand the financial concerns of and business motivations of the company far better than I ever would have when I was just a lower level editor. "I think there's a myth by creating people, I don't know if it's an insecurity from creative people," she says.
