The Politics of Polling
Polls are only estimates of some broader quantity. There could be a too many white people or black people in your sample. In the case of election poles, there maybe yo have too many a rich and well educated voters. And that bias is much smaller than it used to be. But once you think at they're doing what they're doing, by 38 percentage points,. i think we can set the debate on something else. Rather than just saying 'the poles get things wrong,' why not ask: What could be helping us handicap elections?
