The S&P 500 on a total return basis fell about 18%. But if you look at the Schwab US equityETF dividend, for example, that's one of the larger or popular dividend ETFs, it fell only 3%. So having a good portion of your portfolio in dividend stocks can really make a difference during bear markets and periods of volatility.
