The Osthilfa Programme in East Prussia
In may 19 32 the government had a programme going called osthilfe, or eastern aid. It involved subsidies to large estates in east prussia. These estates were owned by old prussian noble families known as junkers. Traditionally these aristocratic families provided the officer corps for the german army. The richber officer corps counted a number of junkers among its members. Hitler added two more conditions, the ban on the s a had to be lifted and he wanted new elections for the reichstag. They had the outline of a deal, and it came to fruition.
