The Golden Ass Lucy
Bresson film also has a sense of the saintliness of the donkey too. He's incorporated into religious ritual. The Golden Ass Lucy, now in this story this is a man who's been turned into a donkey. So he isn't a donkey. In a donkey he thinks like a human. That's the whole point. And so a film that allows us to fully feel asks more interesting philosophical questions about our difference from other kinds of animals and what that difference entails.
