Caesar's Military Victory in Rome

Caesar decided to put off chasing after Pompey for now and instead resolved to neutralize any support that may come in from Spain. He entered hispania with some 30,000 troops intent on taking the Spanish legions out of the fight before Pompey could figure out how to put them to good use. The local Spanish tribes concluded that if they helped Caesar win control of the empire, he may repay the favor by easing the burden of servitude imposed by Rome. When Caesar disbanded the defeated legions, the vast majority of them turned right around and signed up to fight for the man who had just defeated them.
