The White House's Response to the President's Injuries
Ragan's chief of staff james baker raced to the hospital following news of the shooting One doctor warned him that ragan might be bleeding to death. Baker had another difficult decision to make whether to invoke the 25th amendment which transfers authority from an incapacitated president to their vice president. George hw bush had been summoned back to washington from texas but was still in midair.
