The Importance of General Enlightenment

The mass of humanity is described in Romans 1 as lost in sin. The gospel communicates the saving knowledge of God with a clarity and power that general revelation cannot do. I think we'll come back to this problem later on when we talk about the problem of Christian particularism. How can salvation be only through Christ isn't this some way unfair or unloving to those who never get the chance to hear about Christ?
