How Did You Become a Fiction Author?
I find these contradictions occur even in my memory of what i saw as an outsider going there, just preparing for this. To day, i was thinking back on my experience in 88, and i realize i have romanticized things. I wrote the novel through the eyes of a deaf mute who draws what he sees because i felt that the images were so strong. And i felt the nonsensical ness, the absurdity of so much of rumanian history. So i wanted to convey that senselessness through writing from the viewpoint of somebody without words.
