The Origins of the Birds

Charles Morton believed that birds migrate each winter to the moon. In 1822, a man in Germany was hunting when a stork flew above his head. The bird was shot and found with a spear stuck through its body. Spear came from an area of Africa thousands of miles below the equator. Scientists started using things such as aluminum bands wrapped around a bird's leg to begin to understand the patterns in which birds migrate.
