Until then, the attitude ic was taken towards nature. Nature was regarded as a harmonial system and man suffered when in some way he got out of gear with it. This is what he calls autonomy. He moves, but not through his own volition. And being pulled and pushed about by external factors, whether they be physical or tional, he calls peterognomy. That is to say, the laws, the sources of which are outside the human being. Now this entails a new and somewhat revolutionary view of nature.
