Seizing the Assets of Large Scale Private Landlords in Berlin
More than a million people in berlin voted to seize properties owned by large scale private landlords and bring them under public control. The referendum isn't legally binding, but if the idea does become law, it would affect corporations owning at least three thousand homes. City authorities would be able to take over or expropriate all their properties with compensation to be decided. It would see almost a quarter of a million berlin homes pass from private to public control. This would not add any single home to the berlin.
