The Macintosh Project
As early as 1979, a third project was started called Annie. The main goal of this project was to create a $500 computer for the masses. This is also when we get a new name, from an internal memo pinned by Jeff Raskin himself. To avoid using only female names on projects, it has been suggested that each major project be assigned the name of a variety of Apple.
