Do most people change their mind when they're presented with really convincing information or at least credible information on contentious topics? Or do most people find some reason not to believe the new information? Fortunately, most people will change their mind in terms of updating their thinking with new information. But on contentious issues, sometimes what we see is this almost like a wack-a-mole thing that happens where you may correct a specific fact but then they may express a more negative attitude about something else related.
