How to Respond to Bias

In the case of bias, I recommend an I statement. So just start with the word I and then see what comes out of your mouth next. One of my favorite stories about an upstander responding to bias comes from Aileen Lee, who started Cowboy VC. She sat in the middle of the table because she had the expertise that was going to win her team the deal. But when the other side had questions, they directed them not at Aileen but at her two colleagues who were men.
