The average American thinks that if even if we were to have a revival, for example, this would be so wonderful because then we could go back to our own comfortable way of life. That's not the history of the church. The church has always been a minority in the midst of a majority pagan culture. So yes, oftentimes in order for self preservation, Christians have hid. Well, either we hide or we witness to our faith and take the consequences and consider it to be a badge of honor.
