CHAPTER

Iron Man: The Next Steps

John Favreau was identified as the director and Robert Downey as the actor that was the two big decisions. I told my board I'd make the film at a budget that would allow it to break even at a percentage of X-Men, so my budget for the film was about $105 million. We knew we'd have an hour and 45 minutes of Tony Stark in his workshop or talking to Pepper Potts. John was great on those scenes and also getting the best out of talent like Robert Downey. So I think that was something we all saw in Favreau plus he seemed very committed to it.
