The Priesthood and the Church's Teachings

Father Jacob Bertrand: The Lord gave us the priesthood. He bequeathed the priesthood, the ministerial priesthood on the apostles. And we believe that their ordination to the priesthood, when they were given this great gift, that all of that took place. At the last supper, when Jesus handed on for the first time, his own very self and celebrated the Eucharist among them with his 12 closest friends. So I think it's important to begin our conversation of the priesthood remembering that the priesthood is a gift, that it's something given by Christ and something that we receive from him.
