I felt like all the literature for so long is like the ego is bad, banish the ego or your inner critic is vicious. And that just never worked for me. Even part of how I describe my podcast and my work is embracing fear, anxiety, insecurity, uncertainty as the superpowers that they are. So even in this parable, the wolf we're not supposed to feed.
