Simone Vile and Thoreau

Like thorough she was deeply suspicious of majority opinion, of democratic public opinion. She thought the majority were often wrong and treating majority opinion as though it were in some way sacred was a fatal mistake. Vile wasn't anything like George Orwell or Thoreau but they do have many things in common. Her vision unlike Orwell is deeply religious and unlike Thoreau it's a Catholic vision.
