The Republican Zone of Control in the Spanish Republic

An essential piece of the Republican political puzzle would be laid down right at the beginning of the coup. The first people to meet that coup with violence were leftist groups within Spanish society, primarily trade unions and their associated paramilitary groups. In this episode, we will discuss how the Republican zone of control was organized, and some of the disagreements between the various factions. We will also end this episode with some discussion of the role of women within the republic, and how that participation differed from the gender expectations before the war.
