Lachlan and gothak followed a trail through the burned forest. There were no more smouldering trees, but there were still slash marks on the trunks nearest the path. The smell of rotting onions and burnt meat made Lachlan feel sick to his stomach. He was afraid for nezzi and harks, but he also feared that he was responsible for helping them.
