You wrote in The Last Best Hope that the world's pity has taken the place of admiration, hostility, awe, envy, fear, affection, and repulsion. That might have sounded right in the throes of the attack on the US Capitol but now sounds overwrought to you or not? And if there's any relevance to the American role with respect to the war in Ukraine, would you comment on that also? Yeah, I think pity is no longer the right word. It doesn't quite seem right now.
