The news in particular in the 80s or the shift away from reading and reading long deep things has trained our attention. And I think we see that today where people get so enraged about democratic socialism, then they're online buying a pair of sneakers two minutes later. So to Postman's point, it's totally fine to have trivial front and not pay attention. But when we treat everything that way, like conversations about the role of government or racism or policing, we're screwed.
