In the united states, i contact is seen as one of those highest non verbal behaviors to show we're listening to someone. In other cultures that may be inappropriate because i contact is how power is displayed. We attribute whether someone's been listening to us or not really by how they respond to us. How people respond to us are even more important than the non verbal behaviors.
