The Productivity Cost of Brexit
The slowdown in the productivity impact of ICT has probably knocked about 0.9% a year off our productivity growth rate, might account for nearly half of the slowdown. If there's something to replace it, it might be the next phase in a sense of that revolution coming through things like AI, artificial intelligence. It was the story of the Industrial Revolution as well. The steam engine made essentially no difference to British productivity before 1830. But then these, so far, but these big general purpose technologies, that's the history of them. People get excited.
