Humungus Fungus in Oregon

The humungus fungus is a single fungal organism found in maler national forest in oregon, and it belongs to a species called armalaria ostia. It covers an area of three and a half square miles, or nine square kilometers. Its mushrooms only peak above ground when it's time to make more humungus funguses. Scientists believe the humungus fungi got to be so big because it can survive by digesting living tree roots.
