What's the Ceiling of a Great Defence?

Defence doesn't really get any love from high lights or viewed as, you know, it's not really viewed as sex in thea, i the sport by a lot of fance. So what is the ceiling a great defence without great defenders? And then, how much do you need a great rim protector to be a great defence? If you don't have that classic big man rim protector patrolling the lane, can you be a really great defence? How good on defense can you be? Maybe, i don't know if we'll get clarity on every single one of these to day as we go through some of these teams, but that's the goal. That's the idea.
