Nico was far beyond anyone else in the band when it came to what kind of progress they made. Lou Reed did not like the suggestion that he might be replaced with a stranger in his own band one bit. The compromise that they reached is that Nico would be let into the band to sing a few songs But not all of them and to save Lou's ego the band would be billed as the Velvet Underground and Nico. With that the lineup that would record the band's debut album was completed. Now that the Velvet Underground were under Andy's wing, Warhol decided to unleash the band as a part of a larger artistic statement When they were booked to play the annual dinner for the New York
