There are no black women in the Senate. Since 1789 there have been two African-American women serving, Vice President Kamala Harris and Senator Carol Mosley-Bron. I've been fighting for years for the LGBTQ plus community, for communities of color, for women, for the disabled, for seniors,. And so I think now the Senate needs my voice, it needs my perspective. There's so many issues that aren't being addressed.
