Tulip mania pamphlets are a good example of word of mouth transmission in speculative bubbles. I think they tell us about what the culture was around what happened, but we can't trust them for factual information. The pamphlet which lists the type of goods that were worth what it could is not clear whether those prices are correct. And so I do think that they're very good for to see what kind of cultural concerns there were around tulip mania.
