The Slavery Era and the Black Body Report

I remember writing and killing the Black body report out of Boston about residents being trained to conduct sterilization procedures on impoverished Black women in the city. This is also, I think, highlights the connection back to the slavery era and the idea that Black women could be experimented on. The idea that human beings could be subjected to all manner of suffering for the sake of medicine and science is an idea that comes out of slavery. And we should think of it in connection with the idea that people can be forced to bear children for the state or could be punished for having children, you know, for the sakeof the broader public.
