Ben Franklin's World is a podcast dedicated to helping you learn more about how the people and events of our early American past have shaped the present-day world with a van. The connecting theme for our summer 2023 road trip is water. Water was the easiest way to travel in early North America because most of early in North America lacked roads. Located right along the Mississippi River, approximately 620 miles north of New Orleans and 62 miles south of St. Louis, French colonists established the town of St. Genevieve as a trading and agricultural settlement around 1750.
