The assassination of president Kennedy was a tragedy for the secret service agents involved and their director James Rowley. Agents became alcoholics who had been on JFK's detail that day They committed suicide in the years after this was a pain that went deep. In the wake of the assassination he worked triple time to rebuild the agency almost from scratch and build into its protocols a routinized professionalized way of Creating a security net around the president.
