Functional programming is a way of thinking about code that can be applied to any app. It allows you to chain together other behaviors easier than if you were using a completion callback, for instance. And i think the pipe line nature is what really i find the most, a powerful way of visualizing it. So there are ways to take your ap or controllers in neat ways that don't make it spread all across your application.
