Generalizing or Memorizing?

Across the 12,000 odd input pairs there are exactly 10 directions in the input space that matter for producing the neurons. If you delete these directions this will completely kill the generalizing algorithm yeah but it should basically not affect the memorizing algorithm because the memorization is diffuse across like all directions. The model can generalize much faster and much more clean so we define to sign these two metrics restricted loss which is where we evaluate the test loss after getting rid of everything but these ten directions in neuron space.
