The Problem With Too Much Marketing Spend
Marketing managers feel pressure to receive a faster return on investment rather than take into account lag effects and longer lingering effects of their marketing investments. So what that leads to is either cuts where the marketing budget is often ripe for budget cutting during budget season when money is scarce, or it leads to short-term decision making. The problem seems pretty deep in the sense anytime I value anything, it's some agglomeration of lots of things, including marketing spend but also the product itself.
