In new york city, the changes weren't initially met with the kind of enthusiasm for cycling we saw on sundays in bogotaam. One kilometer of motor way will pay for 200 kilometers of cycle way. Sometimes you don't even have to build anything new. A cheap, quick start is to splash some paint on the road to show where bikes should go and cars should not. But there are times when you need more than paint. Amanda and gaberano is an urban planner from uganda in east africa. The capital, campala, has its own brand of chaos. Many roads aren't even paved, let alone marked to separate users.
