In the early twentieth century, utilitarianism was basically the dominant view among moral philosophers. John roll's theory of justice in the early seventies re invigorated the idea that you could do moral philosophy from a different metaethical view called constructivism. Thinking of what you're doing morally is like linguistics and he says we can use this to make sense of our intuitions about morality.
