New Developers - Are You a Specialist?

As a new developer in the scope of everything you know, you are by definition a specialist in whatever it is you learn. You really do probably want to just narrow your focus into something tractable that you can really understand and get your head all the way around before you start. That sounds much more zen than the way he said it.
