Nico Jan's Attempt to Convince Castro That the US Would Not Invade Cuba
Nico Jan argued that there was still good reason to trust the US going forward. Kennedy had made the promise not to invade publicly, and so it would look really bad on the world stage if he did invade. Unless the Cubans did something to provoke an invasion, it would look like a big dominant country picking on a little underdeveloped one.
