Socrates and Xenophon

It's speculated that socrates was chosen in part because he was so ugly. Xenophon left athens voluntarily before being exiled in absentia. Socrates advised him to think twice before doing it, but he went anyway. He later wrote a record of this experience, his most famous work, the anabasis.
