A Brief History of Egypt and the Roman Empire
Egypt was a constant source of anti roman agitation and revolt. East of egypt was arabia, rising most of what we now call the sinai peninsula. Its single legion was famous for refusing to back eastern pretenders to the throne. Polar opposite of loyal arabia was its northwestern neighbor, the once vigorously rebellious judea. Now the utterly depopulated and weak palestinia.
