Fossil Sea Horses

Hippocampus, the short snouted sea horse, fossil plisticene member of that extant species. Hippo campus ramulosis from the lower ppliocene in northern italy was basically a synonym for an extinct species called hippocampus gutolatus. Those, according to what i found, were basically the only known sea horses. For quite some time, there have been others found, but all extant, all fossils of extant groups. Only recently were two extinct groups of sea horses found in russia and they do still show similarities to modern groups.
