The Paradox of Free Speech

You have to understand that if you're going to allow your society to proceed with any degree of certainty, you have to flail about. That's part of the reason why free speech is so important because you have to be able to stumble around blindly like an idiot while you're trying to figure out difficult things. You can't advance unless you're willing to make a fool of yourself. It's better to come out and see if you can discover some new truths rather than just reiterate what you think you already know.
