The Transition to the Argaric Society
There's evidence for extreme dislocation in southwestern Iberia, mostly what's now southern Portugal at the same time. The Argaric may have been a result of migration from west to east, and it could well have been a violent transition. It was certainly a class-based society with inherited inequalities. Some scholars have even argued that the Argaric was a state level society,. Others prefer to see it as one of competing chieftains; both are possible.
