The Mother's Immune Response During Pregnancy

When women have pregnancies with male sons they tend to react immunologically to this pregnancy because the Y chromosome is kind of like a foreign substance in the woman's body right? Ahhh. Wait so when a woman is pregnant with a fetus that has an XY chromosome her body is like ah I don't recognize this Y chromosome and that leads to an immune response that you don't get with female fetuses. Exactly. We call this the maternal immune hypothesis. The mother's immune system would react to the proteins associated with the Y chromosome and then with each successive son there's going to be an increased antibody response. These antibodies would ultimately affect the sexual orientation of the later born son as they're building
