Positive Feedback in a Stable Regime

One performer within the ensemble may hint at a new musical area to explore. This might be reinforced by another musician playing a supporting motif, which might be further reinforced by a third musician catching on to the developing theme. In other words, that's positive feedback, isn't it? It's reinforcing feedback that is pushing you across the hill into the next valley on the table. Exactly right. And, you know, that's the kind of system where you often get these patterns of stability, and then really, really rapid change when you have a bunch of parts all listening to each other.
